IIM-Mumbai launches ‘Artepreneur’ PGDM course in creative leadership for performing arts

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai has announced a collaboration with Kkala, a creative education platform founded by musician Kailash Kher, to launch the ‘Artepreneur’ – a postgraduate diploma in creative leadership for the performing arts. The one-year programme will run from June 2026 to May 2027 and is aimed at aspiring leaders in performing arts, creative entrepreneurs, and artists seeking to combine artistic practice with business and leadership skills.

According to an official statement, the programme will cover areas such as personal branding, artistic foundations, project execution, financial literacy, marketing, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

The curriculum is designed to integrate artistic disciplines including theatre, music, dance, and yoga with management frameworks. This combination, IIM Mumbai noted, is intended to prepare participants to handle complex challenges in both cultural and organisational settings.

Collaboration between IIM Mumbai and Kkala

Through this initiative, IIM Mumbai expands its executive education portfolio into the creative leadership space. The institute stated that its partnership with Kkala aims to bring academic rigour into the context of performing arts and creative entrepreneurship. The programme seeks to provide participants with exposure to both artistic innovation and managerial competence, offering a platform for leadership development across sectors.

Speaking about the initiative, Prof Manoj K Tiwari, Director of IIM Mumbai, said the collaboration reflects the institute’s mission to prepare leaders who combine strategic vision with empathy and innovation. Similarly, Kailash Kher noted that performing arts have relevance beyond the stage, shaping leadership in communities and workplaces.

Admissions for the first cohort beginning in June 2026 will open shortly, according to the notice. Details on eligibility, application deadlines, and programme structure will be made available on the official website of IIM Mumbai.
