
The BSP, led by Mayawati, never releases any manifesto or list of promises for the Assembly or Parliamentary polls. The party is maintaining the same stand in the ongoing Haryana Assembly polls as well. However, its candidate from Dadri Assembly seat in Charkhi Dadri district, Anand Sheoran has made six promises, including unemployment allowance and free LPG cylinders. When asked about it, a party office-bearer said these promises are part of the nine-point agenda of BSP’s ally INLD. Since the BSP has no manifesto of its own, its candidate is using the promises of INLD to appeal for votes.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who held his first meeting with farmers and farm union leaders on Tuesday, got some surprise gifts from the delegation. It is learnt that farmers from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana brought cow ghee and peda, made of cow milk, for the minister. Chouhan, on his part, requested the farmers to have breakfast, which was being served at the venue, Pusa Complex.
AT THE Delhi Bar Association’s farewell event for Justices Rajiv Shakdher and Suresh Kait, who are due to take charge as Chief Justices of Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh High Courts respectively, Justice Vikas Mahajan caught everyone’s attention as he chose to stand with the members of the Bar instead of following the Bench formalities of taking a seat next to his peers. His action prompted ASG Chetan Sharma to remark in jest that Justice Mahajan “is reliving the joys of being an advocate”.
