Approach science in a manner that doesn’t allow technology to dominate the human race, said former Lok Sabha member Rajendrasinh Rana in Bhavnagar on Monday while inaugurating a week-long public outreach campaign of the Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI).
The programme is being held as part of the premier research institute’s 70th foundation day, an official release from CSIR said.
Rana, who served as Lok Sabha Member between 1996 and 2014 by winning elections five times, inaugurated CSMCRI’s One Week One Lab (OWOL) campaign in the presence of CSMCRI director Kannan Srinivasan and other scientists.
OWOL is aimed at showcasing the legacy and achievements of the premier lab, functioning under the aegis of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rana also inaugurated an exhibition highlighting research activities and achievements of CSMCRI and released the Technology Compendium, a handbook of approximately 100 new technologies developed by the CSMCRI since the time it was set up in 1954.
Around 500 school students visited the laboratory and the exhibition, Kanti Bhooshan Pandey, senior scientist and public relations officer of CSMCRI said.
