To further expand the metro rail network in Pune, the Pune civic body has approved new metro routes from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad Road railway station to be developed at a cost of Rs 5,704 crore.
As per the DPR, the proposed metro route from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor will be of 11.35 km and have ten metro stations while the Hadapsar to Saswad Road railway station will be 5.57 km long with four metro stations. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 4,686 crore which would be contributed 20 percent each by the state and union government while 60 per cent will be raised through loan.
“The Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad road railway station sections are spur lines of Kharadi via Hadapsar and Swargate to Khadakwasla corridor which have already been approved by the state government. Thus, the approval to DPR for the spur line should be expedited and sent to the state government for further action,” said Atul Gadgil, Director of Pune Metro rail in communication to PMC.
The DPR for the two lines were submitted to PMC in May 2023 but the civic administration had urged the Pune metro rail to obtain the opinion of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) as there are proposed projects of the two government agencies. The Pune metro informed that the issues were discussed with the relevant authorities.
The Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor line will have stations at Hadapsar Phata, Hadapsar Bus Depot, Akashwani- Hadapsar, Laxmi Colony, Stad Farm, Manjari Phata, Draksha Baug, Toll Naka, Wak Vasti and Loni Kalbhor. The Hadapsar Bus Depot to Saswad Road Railway Station will have stations at Hadapsar Gliding Club, Fursungi IT Park, Sulabh Garden and Saswad Road Railway Station.
The Pune metro has made the first phase metro rail operational from Vanaz to Ramwadi and PCMC to Swargate. It has undertaken work for extending the routes from Swargate to Katraj and PCMC to Akurdi. The sanction for extension of route from Vanaz to Chandni chowk and Ramwadi to Vithalwadi and Khadakwasla to Kharadi route and Nal Stop to Manikbaug has got the state government nod and is awaiting union government approval.
