Baramati NCP MP Supriya Sule on Monday said she was happy that Pune BJP MP Murlidhar Mohol got a ministerial berth in the new NDA government, but added that the minister should use the position for the betterment of the city and not contractors.
First-time MP Mohol, who defeated Congress’s Ravindra Dhangekar, was a surprise entry in the list of ministers who took oath on Sunday. He is only the second Lok Sabha MP from Pune after Congress’s Suresh Kalmadi to become a Union minister. BJP workers and leaders celebrated his elevation by bursting crackers and distributing sweets in the city.
Sule also said that she and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar will soon meet members of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA) to resolve the issues faced by the industries, especially in the Hinjewadi area.
“About 35-40 companies from Hinjewadi have migrated out and we need to do everything to correct this situation. We must speak to the experts and hence we have approached the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce and we will consult them… The government has failed… we as citizens and elected representatives must now take control of the situation and make amends, and stop the firms from going away,” said Sule.
Meanwhile, the NCP (SP) celebrated its 25th anniversary on Monday. The undivided NCP was founded by Sharad Pawar on June 10, 1999.
