Sewree bar sealed for running prostitution racket

The owner of the bar has been charged under Sections 3 (punishment for keeping a brothel or allowing premises to be used as a brothel) and 4 (punishment for living on the earnings of prostitution) Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act,1956 (PITA).

The police sealed the premises for a year under Section 18 (1) of PITA (closure of brothel and eviction of offenders from the premises).

“In the past one year,we have come down severely on establishments running prostitution rings,in accordance with orders issued by the Commissioner of Police,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police SatyaNarayan.

This is the second establishment to be sealed by the police this year.

On February 25,MIDC police sealed White House Bar and Restaurant in Andheri (East) for a year.
