The Bombay High Court will hear on Wednesday an anticipatory bail plea filed by actor Rakhi Sawant, who was detained by Mumbai Police last month after a model alleged that Sawant had made her inappropriate videos and photos viral on social media.

Justice Makarand S Karnik was informed by the lawyer representing the police that as the investigation officer (IO) could not remain present for the hearing, the same can be adjourned.

Sawant’s lawyer said that the actor’s mother recently passed away and she should be protected till the next hearing.

The HC directed the police, who has been booked by the Amboli police, not to take action against Sawant till February 8, the next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, Sawant had allegedly made derogatory comments about the model, who had also filed an intervention application opposing Sawant’s anticipatory bail plea.
