A day after a 58-year-old man was shot in Malad, the Mumbai crime branch arrested the accused, Guddu Khan alias Nihal from Delhi. The incident took place early on Sunday when Khan and the victim, Abdullah Baig were consuming alcohol together.
During interrogation police learnt that Khan was earlier a resident of Mumbai and was working at Baig’s textile workshop since childhood. Khan claims that Baig used to harass and abuse him. The accused then left the job a few years ago and went back to his native state Bihar, said a crime branch officer.
Three months ago, Khan came to Mumbai and was staying at his friend’s house. Baig had already shut his textile business and is currently in the real estate business. Khan came back to Mumbai with the intention to take revenge bringing a country made pistol with him and for the last one month he was helping the Baig with his real estate business, as per the officer.
As per officials, on Sunday at around 5:30 am, the accused fired at the victim from a close range in Obaid compound In Sanjay Nagar, in the Kurar area in Malad when both of them were consuming alcohol together. Khan fired a shot that hit Baig in the ear after an argument.
Baig was rushed to the local hospital by his family members, following which he was moved to J J Hospital. Baig is in a stable condition now.
The Kurar police were informed about the incident, following which they visited the spot and recovered an empty cartridge. An attempted murder case was registered against Khan. Khan fled from Mumbai and was on his way to his native place but he got off at Kanpur railway station and came to Delhi. However, the police followed him and nabbed him once he reached Delhi. He was brought to Mumbai and handed over to the Kurar police for further legal process, added the official.
