The Congress on Sunday night released its fourth list of 14 candidates, changing two earlier announced candidates. Congress has now declared the name of Ashok Jadhav from Andheri West instead of its earlier announced candidate Sachin Sawant.
Sawant had requested the party to change him as he was interested in contesting from Bandra East. The party has also now fielded Lahu Shewale instead of Madhukar Deshmukh from Aurangabad East.
The Sena and Congress are likely to face friendly fight after Congress named Dilip Mane in Solapur South. Sena-UBT has already announced a candidate on this seat.
In its fourth list, Congress has exchanged two seats with Nationalist Congress Party (SP). It has fielded Dr Anil Shinde from Amalner in Jalgaon district who will take on minister Anil Patil of the NCP. In Pandharpur in Solapur district, the Congress has given ticket to Bhagirath Bhalke. The seat was with the NCP (SP) and Bhalke is the son of former NCP MLA late Bharat Bhalke. Bhagirath lost the bypoll while contesting after his father’s death which he fought as NCP candidate against BJP’s Samadhan Autade.
Congress has managed to wrest Warora seat from Sena-UBT and Pravin Kakade will be the party candidate. Santoshsingh Rajput will take on BJP minister Sudhir Mungatiwar in Ballarpur. Abdul Sattar Abdul Gafur will be party candidate from Nanded North. The party has also fielded Datta Bahirat for Shivaji Nagar seat in Pune.
