BJP MP Udayanraje Bhosale on Thursday urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to set up a national memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Delhi. The Rajya Sabha MP, a descendant from Shivaji’s 13th generation, handed over a letter to Shah with his requests.
He also sought a high-level national panel to research and document fresh findings on Shivaji, remembered as the “great warrior king”. Various aspects linked to the 17th-century ruler’s life need to be studied, he stressed.
“We seek the help of the Archaeological Society of India and the archive department of India for a renewed effort to decipher and gather unpublished documents, paintings, and details of weaponry and document it as part of the curriculum. Along with this, we wish the related documents, available with various European nations, need to be retrieved by the government,” he said in the letter.
