Youth fest at GADVASU: Students take out processions on social issues

“Stop exploiting animals in name of fashion and food” was the slogan raised by students

The campus of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) reverberated with slogans full of social messages during the processions taken out by students in the ongoing youth festival.

The day saw formal inauguration of song,dance and theatrical events. GADVASU Vice-Chancellor V K Taneja inaugurated the fest at open air theatre of PAU.

Prior to the inauguration,three on-campus colleges of vet varsity along with School of Animal Biotechnology,Vety Polytechnic Kaljharani,Khalsa College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences,Amritsar,took out processions.

The processions started from the College of Veterinary Science and showcased social issues of female abuse,lawlessness,female foeticide,corruption,dowry and animal safety.

“Stop exploiting animals in name of fashion and food” was the slogan raised by students protesting against cruelty to pets while the other group raised its voice for capital punishment for rapists. Dressed as doctors with knives in their hands and little dolls,the students also raised voice against female foeticide.

The College of Dairy Science and Technology stood first in the procession followed by College of Fisheries.
