An FIR has been registered against an unidentified person on charges of abetment of suicide in connection with the death of a stenographer who fell from the sixth floor of a court building in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur city. So far, no suicide note has been recovered from the scene.
Police Commissioner Raghubeer Lal identified the deceased as Neha, a resident of the Ghatampur area of the city. The police said the reason behind her alleged suicide was yet to be determined.
According to the police, on Saturday afternoon, they received information about a woman falling from the sixth floor of the court building. A police team immediately went to the spot and recovered her body.
Initially, the victim, who had been working at the court for the past five months, could not be identified. Although the police made attempts to access her mobile phone to confirm her identity, it was a court staff member who recognised her. Her parents, who live in Fatehpur, were then informed about the incident.
A forensic team was called to the site to collect crucial evidence, and senior police officials visited the location to supervise the investigation.
Jagdish Prasad Pandey, Station House Officer of the Kotwali police station, stated that an FIR was registered against an unidentified person under section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abetment of suicide. No arrests have been made in the case.
The police said they were investigating all possible angles to determine the circumstances leading to the woman’s death. They plan to record statements from her colleagues and other associates to gather information that could shed light on the reasons behind her alleged suicide.
