A Special CBI Court granted bail to the six former judges accused in the Provident Fund scam

A Special CBI Court granted bail to the six former judges accused in the Provident Fund scam, after they were presented in the court on Thursday. R P Yadav,R P Mishra,R N Mishra,R S Chaubey,Arun Kumar and Ajay Kumar Singh received bail after furnishing a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties of Rs 1 lakh each.

The court of Justice A K Singh granted them bail on the condition that they will not affect the prosecution witnesses directly or indirectly, and not influence the subordinate court staff in any manner,” said Nandit Srivastava, counsel for three of the accused judges.

The court has asked the accused judges to mark their presence in the court along with their counsels at each hearing. “They will not be allowed to skip hearings even on the pretext of ill health,” the order read.

The arguments continued for six hours before the former judges were granted bail.

The proceedings in the case started at 10.30 am. Abhishek Gautam, son of Ajay Kumar Singh, has also been granted interim bail along with the six former judges.

“We told the court there was no evidence against the former judges. The investigation is flawed,” Srivantava said. About Rs 6.58 crore was fraudulently withdrawn from the Provident Fund accounts of Class III and IV employees of the Ghaziabad district court.

CBI Court Special judge Rama Jain became a complainant in the criminal case against the accused in the scam.
