HC notice to minister Prajapati for occupying gram sabha land

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court Thursday issued notice to Minister of State for Geology and Mining Gayatri Prasad Prajapati for allegedly occupying gram sabha land in the state capital

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court Thursday issued notice to Minister of State for Geology and Mining Gayatri Prasad Prajapati for allegedly occupying gram sabha land in the state capital. It also directed the District Magistrate of Lucknow to take appropriate action for eviction of “unauthorised occupants” from the land.

A bench of Justices Devi Prasad Singh and Ashwani Kumar Singh passed the order on a writ petition filed by one Surendra Kumar,alleging that Prajapati had occupied gram sabha land in Neelmatha revenue village of Lucknow.

“There are two plots,numbered 632 and 636,each of 32 bighas,of the gram sabha in Neelmatha revenue village under Sadar tehsil in Lucknow. It has been alleged that Prajapati illegally occupied the land and later sold it,” said IP Singh,the chief standing counsel,who appeared on behalf of the government.

The court granted the respondents three weeks’ time to file an affidavit and one week’s time to the petitioner for filing a counter affidavit. The case is listed for next hearing on September 9.

The court also instructed the District Magistrate of Lucknow to send a team of revenue officers to make an inspection of the land on basis of the revenue record and find out how much of the gram sabha land has been occupied by Prajapati. The DM has to submit a report before the court on the next date of hearing. The Sub Divisional Magistrate and Tehsildar has also been asked by the court to appear with the action taken report in person on September 9.

BJP to hold Kargil Vijay Diwas rally

LUCKNOW: The BJP will hold a Kargil Vijay Diwas rally in Noida Saturday to target the UPA government on the issue of national security following recent attacks on Indian jawaans by Pakistani troops and incursion by China. Party president Rajnath Singh will be the chief guest.

The rally is being organised in Kakor village of Noida for two reasons. Firstly,there are a number of families from the army reside here. Secondly, Noida is the Lok Sabha constituency with the highest number of Thakur votes from western Uttar Pradesh and there is speculation the party president Rajnath Singh may contest the next Lok Sabha elections from here.
