Employees of Allahabad Development Authority today gheraoed its vice-chairman A K Singh in his office for a couple of hours,alleging that he had used inappropriate language against a junior engineer.
The vice-chairman,however,said the agitation was the result of tough action taken by him against a junior engineer,who also happens to be a leader of the employees union. The police were called to resolve the matter.
The employees,led by Satish K Pandey,the junior engineer and senior vice-president of Uttar Pradesh Vikas Pradhikaran Karmchari Sanyukt Sangathan,stopped the VC from using the lift in the ADA building here. They told him that his vehicle would not be allowed to leave the campus. Singh returned to his office while the employees shouted slogans against him.
Apart from accusing the VC of being involved in corrupt activities and using abusive language,the employees also demanded that the administration release their arrears pertaining to the sixth pay commission,acceptance of their medical bills and granting them a higher grade.
However,Singh said Pandey was rattled by the tough action taken against him.
I,along with my enforcement team,had visited Mundera-Sulem Sarai area on Kanpur Road,the area under Pandey,where I found illegal construction being allowed in at least a dozen cases. The construction was being carried out right on the main GT Road. The junior engineer was directed to give an explanation,which was not satisfactory. Subsequently,he was removed from his current posting and attached to the office of the chief engineer. A report is also being sent to the administration for taking further action against him, said Singh.
