Capital to witness Gomti clean-up drive tomorrow

The city Tuesday will witness a symbolic cleaning of Gomti river. The awareness drive,organised by Lok Adhikar Manch (LAM),will see National Sample Survey volunteers,NCC cadets,social activists,teachers and students participation.

The campaign will begin with a 1.5 km human chain from Hanuman Setu to Daliganj Bridge,followed by a symbolic cleaning of Gomti, said LAM convener Anil Singh. Gomti is polluted. The aim of the drive is to create awareness among residents and state government,which wants to undertake a beautification programme of the area around the river. The first step should be to clean the river, he said.
