A woman at a weekend club inside a 5-star hotel in Kolkata hid herself for nearly half an hour after she was allegedly molested, assaulted, and attacked with beer bottles in the early hours of Sunday.

According to the FIR, the incident took place between 4 am and 5 am on Sunday when the woman was partying at the club with her husband, brother, and friends. She stated that she was eventually rescued by police from the hotel’s liquor room.

A case has been registered at Bidhannagar South Police Station under sections of voluntarily causing hurt, criminal force and assault and solitary confinement of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

The FIR names Junaid Khan and Nasir Khan, both residents of Park Street, as accused in the case.

In her complaint, the woman alleged: “… while happily partying at my table in the club, a few people started fighting with us. Junaid Khan, Nasir Khan and their group of friends physically assaulted and attempted to sexually abuse me… When my brother tried to protect (me), they threw glass and bottles at him. Then we tried to run away from the hotel to save ourselves but Junaid Khan called more people to the hotel, around 20 boys, and started attacking us again.”

The complaint further stated that she called the police helpline for help, “…but (the accused) blocked all the doors. Then a few boys started pushing me and touching me in a very bad way… I have attached the medical report and you can find all the attacking videos as CCTV of the club premises. I therefore request you to register my complaint and take immediate action… Junaid Khan and Nasir Khan are criminals who were involved in the Park Street rape. They are threatening to kill me over the phone.”

Police sources said Nasir Khan was convicted in the 2012 Park Street gangrape case and released in 2020 after completing his term. Junaid Khan, his nephew, has also been named in the present case.
