Buddha urges people to return to CPM

Former chief minister and CPM leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has urged people to reinstate their faith in the Left.

Former chief minister and CPM leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has urged people to reinstate their faith in the Left. “We committed a mistake and people shunned us. We are now trying very hard to make a comeback and assure that we will not repeat the mistake that we committed. We urge for support from people who had left us for the TMC and the Congress,” he said at a Left Front rally at Hazra today.

The rally was given a last-minute permission from the Kolkata Police.

“The state at first didn’t want to give permission, but I would have come to this meeting anyway. I am warning the government not to go the way it is going. It resisted my meeting in Arambagh and (CPM leader) Gautam Deb’s meeting at Shyambazar. This will continue in future as well,” he said.

He referred to the Kolkata Police’s announcement today that there cannot be any law violation programme. He said,“Who would listen to them? It is called a law violation programme because their law is to be violated.”

Talking about Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s claim that about 10 lakh people have been provided with jobs,he said she must be referring to the hiring of Green Police who either get a uniform or salary. Not both. “Or she must be referring to the jobs that were provided by the chit fund companies. Look at what is happening to those. They are unable to return to their homes and are committing suicide.”

He said there is no investment coming to the state because of rampant extortion. “Industry people are confused as to who to pay and how many times.”
