Apart from Nagendra Tripathi, Delhi has sought deputation of two other IPS officers

Nagendra Tripathi is a 2009-batch IPS officer

IPS officer Nagendra Tripathi, currently posted in West Bengal, has been asked to report to the Union Home Ministry. He will be posted as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Under Secretary of the Union Home Ministry, Sanjeev Kumar, sent a letter to Chief Secretary of West Bengal, Manoj Pant, in this regard on Wednesday.

Home department sources said that the state government has agreed to send Tripathi for his next posting.

Apart from Nagendra Tripathi, Delhi has sought deputation of two other IPS officers.

The Chief Minister, however, is yet to take a call on the two officers besides Tripathi. A senior official of state administration said, “Chief Minister gave the green signal to release Tripathi but she is yet to decide on the other two IPS officers. She is generally against sending officers on deputation to Delhi.”

Tripathi was made special police observer for the Nandigram Assembly constituency in the 2021 assembly elections, where Mamata Banerjee was a candidate against BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari.

On the election day, the CM sat on dharna in front of a booth and alleged BJP is doing false polling there. Tripathi went there and convinced her to end the protest.
