The Pappu campaign carried out by the Election Commission may have struck a chord with young voters this time but it seems that the BJPs persistent efforts to woo the youth online did not work in favour of the party.
Candidates like Vijender Gupta and Vijay Goel had launched their personal websites to reach out to the voter. Goel went a step ahead and drew up a youth agenda offering more jobs with the help of daughter Vidyun Goel.
According to BJP party leaders in the Capital,while the party tried to make its presence felt online,both at the national and local level,by creating Facebook groups,advertisements and even launching websites for each political candidate,the young voter was evasive,voting in favour of Manmohan Singh and the Congress instead.
Advani and his BJP candidates were present every where but they didnt seem to have anything to give us in the future. The Congress,on the other hand,offers stability and is not regressive in the name of religion, Neha Singh (21),a resident of New Friends Colony and a first-time voter,said. She admitted that Manmohan Singh was way more appealing than L K Advani,the BJP prime ministerial candidate.
