BSY gets court nod to visit London

A CBI special court in Bangalore on Saturday relaxed the bail conditions of former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

A CBI special court in Bangalore on Saturday relaxed the bail conditions of former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in a case of corruption related to illegal mining to enable him to travel to London for two weeks to attend the installation of a statue of the Lingayat spiritual leader Basavanna in the Lambeth region of London.

Yeddyurappa had sought relaxation of his bail conditions to travel to London between November 7 and 26 to attend the installation of the Basavanna statue in the Lambeth borough by the Lambeth mayor Neeraj Patil,who is from Karnataka and is a Lingayat like Yeddyurappa.

The CBI had on October 16,2012 chargesheeted the former BJP CM,his two sons,a son-in-law,steel major JSW Steel and four Bellary based JSW affiliates for criminal conspiracy,cheating,forgery and corruption in a case relating to the payment of Rs 40 crore as bribes to Yeddyurappa’s family and a family trust for iron ore mining favors in the year 2010.

Yeddyurappa and his sons were earlier enlarged on bail pending trial of the case and as per existing earlier bail conditions cannot travel abroad.
