A gunfire incident shook Villa Plazo Society, Khanpur, Kharar, around 5 AM on Sunday, leaving the entire neighborhood in panic. Residents reported that the loud gunshots forced many to rush out of their homes in fear.
According to police sources, Shivansh Rana, a BCA student at the government college in Una, had come to Kharar in June 2025 for coaching. On Saturday night, he came with two friends to meet his brother. They invited Harvinder Singh alias Harry, an old friend who lives nearby, and the group held a night-long party.
Authorities said a dispute erupted among the friends at the end of the party, escalating into a confrontation. During the altercation, one individual fired a gun, hitting Shivansh Rana in the head, leaving him critically injured. The shooter fled immediately.
Rana died on the spot. Kharar police arrived promptly and launched an investigation.
DSP Karan Sandhu stated, “Shivansh Rana died at the scene. His friends are in custody, and the search for the absconding suspect is ongoing. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS (25, 54, 59) and the Arms Act. Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting resulted from a personal dispute during the party, but the complete picture will emerge only after a detailed probe. Raids are underway to apprehend the accused.”
