A 29-year-old youth attempted suicide inside police lock-up in Sector 39 police station on Monday morning. Gaurav Verma tried to kill himself with the broken pieces of a tube.
He was rushed to the hospital and booked in a case of attempt to suicide under Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). His condition is stated to be out of danger.
According to police,the victim is mentally unstable. Verma also took off his clothes in police lock-up after tearing them off in a fit of rage. He was arrested for beating up his wife on Sunday night at his Sector 40 residence. The case was registered on the statement of his wife whose medical examination was also conducted at the hospital.
Gaurav asked for water inside the lock-up,and then used the bottle to break the tube in the lock-up. He then used the tube to injure himself in the stomach. The guard saw him and raised the alarm and rushed him to the hospital.
On April 19,Verma had tried to attack his brother amidst high drama and was arrested under the preventive measures. He was out on bail and was arrested again on Sunday night for injuring his wife when he tried to attempt suicide in morning.
