The Namdhari sect on Friday denied giving any clean chit to Thakur Dalip Singh, the heir apparent,in the murder of Sant Avtar Singh Tari,as reported in certain sections of the media.

Amid this a large section of Dalip Singh’s supporters met Commissioner Police Ishwar Singh (left) urging him that the police should not fall prey to any kind of pressure and ensure a free and fair probe into the murder.

“Thakur Dalip Singh is a guru putra and dragging his name in such a crime is sad. We also suspect that some people close to Satguru ji are behind this conspiracy,” said the supporters who claimed that they have come from across the state.

“Some of us are from Himachal Pradesh,Haryana,Delhi and even Canada,” one of the supporters said.

The police,on the other hand, has yet not questioned Dalip Singh whose name features in the FIR. Avtar Singh Tari,a close aide of Satguru Jagjit Singh, the sect chief, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants at Katani Kalan village on Tuesday morning.
