UT swimmer brings laurels to nation, bags silver in 50m event

Prathna Bhatia has given a reason not just to Chandigarh, but the entire nation to celebrate as she has clinched silver in 50 metres freestyle swimming at the Special Olympics World Games held in Berlin.

Bhatia represented the Chandigarh and participated in the event on June 23 under the banner of “Special Olympics Bharat Chandigarh Chapter”.

The Special Olympics are the world’s largest inclusive sporting event for sportspersons with intellectual disabilities.

In a statement on Sunday, the swimmer’s school Bhavan Vidyalaya credited her “remarkable achievement” to her “persistent hard work”.

Education Director- cum-Senior Principal of Bhavan Vidyalaya Vineeta Arora congratulated Bhatia and her parents on the feat, and wished her the best for future endeavours.
