Southern Region-I claim volleyball title

Continuing their fine form in the tournament,Southern Region-I scored a 25-17,25-16,25-14 win over Western Region-II and won the Powergird Inter-Regional Volleyball Tournament which concluded at Sector 7 Sports Complex on Sunday

The spikers of Southern Region-I were in fine form and dominated the proceedings right from the start of the match. Starting the match on an aggressive note,Southern Region-I spikers made some fine moves in the first set and took early lead. Southern Region-I claimed the first set with a margin of 25-17 before starting on an attacking note in the second set also. Playing a controlled game,Southern Region-I claimed the second set with a 25-16 margin before winning the third set with a 25-14 margin to win the title. The third place was bagged by hosts Northern Region-II as they scored a 25-23,25-9 win over Southern Region-II. Northern Region-II claimed the first set with a 25-23 margin before claiming the second set with a 25-9 margin to claim the third spot in the championship.

Earlier in the day,Southern Region-I scored a 25-20,25-11,25-15 win over Southern region-II in the semi-final stage. Southern Region-I claimed the first set with a margin of 25-20 before claiming the second set with a margin of 25-11.

The third set saw Southern Region-I playing an attacking game and they claimed the set with a 25-15 margin to march into the finals. In the other semi-final encounter,Western Region-II ended the challenge of Northern Region-II with a 25-18. 25-8,17-25,25-19 win. It was a close encounter as both the teams played attacking game. Western Region-II claimed the first set with a 25-18 margin before claiming the second set with a 25-8 margin.

Northern Region-II claimed the third set with a 25-17 margin to make a comeback into the match but Western Region-II claimed the fourth and final set with a 25-19 margin to advance into the finals.
