Punjab floods: Two brothers die of electrocution, family left devastated

The brothers were attempting to cover their flooded house terrace with a tarpaulin sheet when the incident occurred.

Local MLA Jiwan Singh Sangowal described the family as inconsolable, stating that the roof of their house had been leaking due to incessant rainfall.

According to MLA Sangowal, the parents are devastated after losing their two sons. While their father works as MNREGA worker earning daily wages, mother earns livelihood working as a domestic help in some houses.

The couple is now left with their daughter. The MLA assured that he and the villagers would provide all possible help to the family, including organizing the bhog ceremony for the deceased brothers.

Punjab is reeling under heavy rains with over ten districts battling extreme floods. At least 30 people have died across Punjab in floods and monsoon related incidents.
