Pastor Bajinder Singh booked for sexual harassment, Christian community says conspiracy, stages protest

He added, “The woman who made the allegation used to attend our church until three years ago. For the past three years, she has had no connection with the church. All the accusations are baseless. There is no evidence to support the allegations. If the police do not take appropriate action, we will escalate the matter”.

The Kapurthala police recently registered a case against Pastor Bajinder Singh following allegations of sexual harassment made by a woman. The woman alleged that Bajinder Singh runs a Christian congregation called The Church of Glory and Wisdom at Tajpur village in Jalandhar.

She said in her complaint that her parents began attending the church in October 2017. In due course of time, the pastor obtained her phone number. Afterward, he allegedly started sending inappropriate messages and engaging in indecent conversation with her over the phone. The woman claimed that in 2022, the pastor began inviting her to sit alone in the church cabin on Sundays, where he would touch her inappropriately. The woman stated that if any harm comes to her, her parents, husband, or brother, Pastor Bajinder Singh and Avatar Singh would be held responsible.

Following the complaint, the city police station registered a case against him under sections 354 A (sexual harassment), 354 D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. SHO Bikramjit Singh confirmed the registration of the case.

The church, which has been in the news for several reasons in the past, is also known for its association with Bollywood stars. In 2023, the church gained media attention when I-T sleuths raided the premises and seized some documents.

The church holds weekly congregations, attracting hundreds of people from various communities and backgrounds. During these congregations, Pastor Bajinder is known for making claims of solving every problem that anyone may face in life, including fatal diseases.

He became a pastor when he was in jail in alleged murder case around 15 years ago. Also, he was booked in serious cases in the past, including alleged rape.
