Haryana government today claimed that financial assistance of over Rs 1.56 crore has so far been provided to the victims of Mirchpur incident under various welfare schemes in addition to Chief Ministers Relief Fund.
An official spokesman said financial assistance of Rs 15 lakh was given to Mrs Kamla Devi,wife of deceased Tara Chand,and Rs 5 lakh to his son Amar Lal from Chief Ministers Relief Fund.
A sum of Rs 13 lakh had been provided to 52 injured persons for medicare at the rate of Rs 25,000 per person. Financial assistance of Rs 26.85 lakh was also distributed among 179 persons on the recommendation of a committee constituted by the district administration,Hisar. In the absence of employment,financial assistance of Rs 20.60 lakh was given to 206 families at the rate of Rs 10,000 per family.
Wheat worth Rs 9.89 lakh had also been distributed among 386 families from Chief Ministers Relief.
He said that over Rs 26.78 lakh had also been distributed among 18 victim families as compensation for damage to houses and domestic goods under Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Act.
In addition to it,a sum of Rs 34.88 lakh had been given to 18 families for the construction of houses under Indira Awas Yojana,Backward and Scheduled Castes House Grant Scheme. Social Welfare Department also provided Rs 49,483 to the victim families for purchase of household goods immediately after the incident.
Financial assistance of Rs 14,600 was given to Vedo Devi wife of Jagbir Singh and Rs 11,600 to Dhoop Singh son of Ratan Singh for medical care.
