Himachal to use waste plastic for making roads

Himachal Pradesh today cleared a proposal to start a pilot project adopting at least 11 road projects in the state,where waste plastic bags will be used in the construction of roads.

Himachal Pradesh today cleared a proposal to start a pilot project adopting at least 11 road projects in the state,where waste plastic bags will be used in the construction of roads.

The state’s Department of Environment Protection and Scientific Technologies convened a meeting with top officials of the Public Works Department (PWD),Urban Development,Forest and State Pollution Control Board in this regard.

All recycled polythene bags are banned in Himachal Pradesh. Sarojni Thakur,Principal Secretary (Environment and Scientific Technologies),said the department will provide technical guidance and encourage the use of waste plastic in construction activities.
