Days after suspending five staff members of a Community Health Centre in Ambala’s Mullana, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij Sunday suspended five police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO), of the Narwana Sadar Police Station.
The action came after Vij stopped at the Narwana Sadar Police Station and conducted a surprise inspection while going from Ambala to Hisar. Vij ordered their suspension with immediate effect after he said he found the police personnel were not performing their duties. The police personnel who were suspended include SHO Sub-Inspector Balwan Singh, Head Constables Sandeep and Ramniwas, and Constables Kuldeep Kumar and Raman.
Vij, while interacting with the media, said, “Many types of negligence and shortcomings have been found at the police station during my surprise inspection. For many months, people were repeatedly coming to the police station and yet their work was not being done. Their files were pending at various levels. That’s why I ordered the suspension of the five police personnel, including the SHO, of the police station. I also directed the Superintendent of Police, Jind district, to listen to the complainants’ grievances at the police station and take further action to resolve them”.
The Haryana home minister said he also checked the reports, documents, registers, applications, and other documents at the police station.
“During the inspection, I found that applications of many people have been received regarding their passport verification. No action has been taken on these applications by the concerned police personnel. Similarly, I found that the cases were not registered on the complaints received online. The status of these complaints was not uploaded online for the past 7-8 days. A report was sought under an application from the Market Committee regarding the insurance to be given in relation to death during work in the fields related to the Chief Minister’s Insurance Scheme, the report of which was found pending. The person on whose desk this report was pending has also been suspended,” Vij said.
The minister also said the munshi of the police station, who is supposed to maintain all such records, has also been suspended. “The SHO of the police station has been suspended for negligence as he has shown no control over the work at any level in the police station. Actually, I did not find any work that was being conducted in a proper manner at the Narwana Sadar police station,” he added.
Vij also interacted with the complainants who had come to the police station, sought information about their applications, and gave directions to the police personnel concerned for immediate disposal.
“I can do a surprise inspection in any office anytime and my vehicle can turn anywhere at any time,” Vij said in a warning message to the state’s police personnel.
After inspecting the Narwana Sadar police station, Vij also met officials of the Road Bachao Sangharsh Samiti and assured them that appropriate action will be taken on the issues raised by them.
