To inculcate “moral values” in the work culture, the Haryana government has decided to impart ‘ethics training’ to its over 3.5 lakh officers and employees.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar made the announcement in Gurgaon Wednesday while addressing a ‘Naetikta Shivir’ as the chief guest.
“Public servants should work for the welfare of the society by rising above the distinction between themselves and others. In order to develop the spirit of public service among the 3.5 lakh officers and employees of the state, now a target has been set along with general personnel training to make them aware of moral values,” CM Khattar said at the event organised by Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA).
He called upon all officers to dedicate themselves to the public interest and act as servants of the public. “The purpose of this programme is that after joining government service, the public servant should work with a spirit of responsibility to serve society. During the last eight-and-a-half-year tenure, work has been done on taking the state forward through social service. If we move forward on these lines, we will be able to make our state divine and glorious,” Khattar said.
While highlighting the outline of the programme launched by HIPA, Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said that Haryana is the first state in the country to start a programme with a focus on ethics and purity. All the officers and employees of the state will be connected with this programme, Kaushal said.
“Earlier, Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj also explained the subject of morality to the people present in the programme with various shlokas of Gita and Mahabharata-related contexts. Swami Sarvalokananda of Ramakrishna Mission addressed the programme, and stressed that transparency, accountability and credibility are very important for good governance. He said that ‘Naetikta Shivir’ will contribute significantly in the development of human resources of the state”, a state government spokesperson said.
