In a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, the Dal Khalsa has alleged that the Gurdaspur administration — backed by the BJP and the police — was not allowing the law to take its own course in the case of Jaspal Singh,a student of Beant College of Engineering, who had died in police firing in Gurdaspur town on March 29. Jaspal was hit by a bullet while he was participating in a demonstration demanding the arrest of Shiv Sena members accused of removing the turbans of three boys. The letter added that bowing to the pressure of Sikh Sangat and Akal Takht Jathedar, the Badal government,on March 31,had suspended the SSP and booked the DSP for murder. However,75 days later,no action has been taken against the guilty.
