The UT police PRO Ram Gopal has clarified the purpose of the recently issued Standing Order, stating that it was designed to streamline various aspects of Establishment Matters. The order aimed to bring clarity in litigations in service matters and internal dealings of establishment matters by Police Headquarters.
Ram Gopal emphasized that the authority to transfer personnel has not been changed from what was existing before. The Police Establishment Board deals with transfers and postings of personnel, and this has not been mentioned in the standing order. SSP UT remains the member of Police Establishment Board which deals with transfers and postings of all personnel till the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police. No order changing these powers of SSP UT has been issued by the Chandigarh Police.
Furthermore, the Standing Order does not modify the disciplinary authority of the police personnel. SSP UT remains the disciplinary authority of personnel posted under the officer, and there is no change in this regard in the said Standing Order. In case of any laxity in duty, corruption case, or any other case requiring departmental enquiry/action, SSP UT is fully competent to take any action prescribed in rules, including dismissal of the personnel from service.
