The Centre has evolved a plan to impart training and education in technical skills to 50 crore people by 2022 to address the critical issue of unemployment among the youth and create a human resource pool. This herculean endeavour will need reorientation of scientific and technical education and a more dynamic approach to vocational training. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Ashwani Kumar said this while addressing the third convocation of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology in Hisar on Wednesday. He said the Centre had decided to set up an Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research with powers to award degrees,and a Bill for the purpose would be introduced in the ensuing Budget Session of Parliament.
