Woman dies after being hit by car in Gandhinagar, 30-year-old man arrested

A 30-year-old man from Bopal in Ahmedabad was arrested a day after his car hit a two-wheeler resulting in the death of a 25-year-old woman in Gandhinagar on Tuesday, police said.

The man, Mohit Surendra Gupta, was arrested by Gandhinagar’s Adalaj Police on Wednesday, said officers.

He was arrested based on the FIR filed on the complaint of Chandkheda resident Ashokkumar Mangaldas Panchal, the father of deceased Hina.

Panchal said he rushed to the SMS Hospital in Chandkheda where Hina was later taken in an ambulance. The doctor on duty told Panchal that Hina had succumbed to grievous injuries to her head.
According to the FIR, Panchal, before going to Adalaj police station, visited the site of the accident and saw a car along with his daughter’s damaged two-wheeler.

Earlier, police had booked unknown persons under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 281 (rash driving), 106 (causing death by negligence), and 125(a) and (b), pertaining to endangering life or personal safety of others. The person was also booked under several sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
