Maintaining that his party will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as part of the Opposition bloc INDIA, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Saturday said that there are several seats in Gujarat where BJP can be defeated.

During his visit to Ahmedabad, Singh told mediapersons: “To give a crushing answer to BJP, we will contest as part of the INDIA alliance. Our calculation shows there are several seats here where BJP can be defeated.

Nearly Rs 8,000 crore has been paid in excess by the government here to Adani as power tariff, which in turn has been charged from the public… it’s a loot with Gujarat’s people.”

The INDIA bloc, an alliance of 28 political parties of which AAP is a constituent, will defeat the BJP, he added. Singh further said that AAP is preparing for municipality elections in 72 seats.

During his visit, Singh held review meetings with AAP Gujarat president Isudan Gadhvi, five MLAs, including Dediapada legislator Chaitar Vasava, and other regional leaders.

In a statement, the party said that closed-door review meeting was held for “Lok Sabha preparations and strategy”.

Meanwhile, at the press briefing, Vasava hinted at contesting Lok Sabha elections. “I am currently the Deiapada MLA and am happy to hold the position at such a young age. But my constituency comes under the Bharuch Lok Sabha seat and it is the people’s wish and demand that Chaitarbhai Vasava contests from the Bharuch seat,” he said in response to a query.
