Prisoner escapes from police custody

A prisoner of the Sabarmati Central Jail admitted in the Civil Hospital allegedly escaped on Saturday. The police said Alpesh Badoria was serving his term in a loot case for over a year.

A prisoner of the Sabarmati Central Jail admitted in the Civil Hospital allegedly escaped on Saturday. The police said Alpesh Badoria was serving his term in a loot case for over a year.

Inspector F L Vasava,who is investigating the case,said: “Badoria was admitted on October 20 and was undergoing treatment for tuberculosis and intestinal problems. His wife was also at the hospital to take care of him. He pretended to go to the toilet and fled from there.”

The Shahibaug police are investigating the case. Badoria had been arrested on several occasions earlier in loot cases and under the Arms Act,the police said,adding that a case of negligence has been filed against the policemen on duty at the hospital under sections 223,224 and 225 of the Indian Penal Code.
