Kidnapped girl rescued,boyfriend among four held

Police have rescued the 17-year-old daughter of deputy mamlatdar of Olpad taluka who was kidnapped on Tuesday evening while on her way to tuition classes to a place near her house.

Police have rescued the 17-year-old daughter of deputy mamlatdar of Olpad taluka who was kidnapped on Tuesday evening while on her way to tuition classes to a place near her house.

The kidnappers had demanded Rs 25 lakh for her release. Four persons,including the girl’s boyfriend,have been arrested.

According to police,when Mansi Gandhi (17),a Class 12th science student and a resident of Royal Garden Society at Adajan,failed to return till night on Tuesday,her father Deepak Gandhi contacted her classmates and friends to locate her. In the meantime,Mansi’s mother Tejal received a call from her daughter’s cellphone in which the caller said she was kidnapped. The caller spoke in Hindi.

The couple promptly informed the police,which began tracking Mansi’s cellphone.

On Wednesday afternoon,the kidnappers called up on Tejal’s cellphone again and demanded Rs 25 lakh for her release.

On the basis of call records from Mansi’s cellphone,police picked up one of her friends,and later one more.

The trail led to Nikunj Parekh,Mansi’s boyfriend from Vadodara allegedly hatched the kidnapping plan.

Acting on leads,police went to Saraswati Society in Ankleshwar and rescued the girl.

The alleged kidnappers have been identified as Nikunj Parekh (boy friend),his elder brother Nirav Parekh (23),Azadali Ansari (26) and Rikenkumar Makwana (20),all residents of Gorwa in Vadodara.

The girl was brought back to Surat and was handed over to her parents.

Police have also seized the car used in the kidnapping.

Preliminary investigation revelaed that Mansi came in contact with Nikunj,an electrical engineer,through a social networking. The began talking to each other and she later fell in love with him.

“Nikunj called her up on Tuesday evening and asked her to come at Pal road. When she turned up there,Nikunj and his friends asked her to sit in the car. When she refused,they pushed her into the car and drove off,” Adajan police inspector Z R Desai said.

“They then tied her hands with a rope and stuck a tape on her mouth. The purpose of kidnapping was ransom,” Desai added.
