“In the current global volatility, the best way forward for India is to be Atmanirbhar (self-reliant). The meaning of Atmanirbhar Bharat is to insist on Swadeshi things. Our enthusiasm for Make in India should be increased. The Swadeshi Andolan is not a 100-year-old andolan (movement). It is an andolan that will strengthen our future. And we have to provide leadership to it, our young boys and girls have to provide it. It should be decided that we will not bring a single foreign thing in our home,” Modi said.

“Our success and strength lies in Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India. The future of our coming generations has to be secured in it… And once we start buying Indian things, its quality will certainly change gradually. Because everyone wants to last in the market and for that everyone will manufacture good (material), will do good packaging and sell it at cheaper rates. And therefore now, we can’t afford that our rupee goes out (abroad),” he added.

Modi told the gathering that he was sure that all of them will do the task given by him and strengthen the country.

Addressing the traders’ community, he said, “It is my request to traders as well. Now, our society has not remained one of farmers, it is also of traders. Let us put a board that says ‘Only Swadeshi goods are being sold in my shop. Those who want to buy Swadeshi, come to my shop.’ We should sell only indigenous goods. This too is patriotism. Operation Sindoor alone is not patriotism. This too is patriotism.”

In his speech, PM Modi also recollected the initiatives of Gujarat government under him for welfare and education of girls in the state.

The PM had made an unscheduled address at the event, which was also attended virtually by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah after inaugurating the hostel building.

Shah gave an assurance of providing any help that the authorities of Sardardham may require from the Central government and state government.

Built at a cost of Rs 200 crore, the hostel can accommodate 3,000 girls. Spread over 10,000 square yards, the building’s foundation stone was laid by PM Modi.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, too, attended the event apart from top Patidar leaders from across the state.
