The Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch detained 22 men and 19 women during a raid on a liquor party organised at a bungalow on the C G Road here on Sunday.

The organiser was identified as Harsh Shah who had thrown the party to celebrate his wedding anniversary at his house at Chinoy Bungalows. Shah was arrested under the Prohibition Act for stocking liquor,a DCB officer said.

Police seized 14 bottles of beer and Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) from his house.

DCP (Crime) Himanshu Shukla said,“Those caught at the party have been sent (to the Civil Hospital) for a blood test to confirm whether they consumed alcohol. If they test positive, all those detained would be booked under the Prohibition Act.”

Police said that prima facie, the girls did not appear to be ‘drunk’.

According to the DCB,several big shots from the city were invited to the party, including children of top businessmen and industrialists based in the state. Police, however, refused to reveal their identify.
