Customs in Mundra destroy 94 lakh tablets of Tramadol; were on way to Africa: Officials

The market value of the seized drugs are said to be in excess of Rs 150 crore.

Mundra Customs Friday said they destroyed 94 lakh tablets of Tramadol, an illegal psychotropic substance, seized while they were being smuggled to Africa. The market value of the seized drugs are said to be in excess of Rs 150 crore.

A seizure of Tramadol in 2024 was the largest of its kind in India and was destroyed at the incinerator used for this purpose, at Bhachau, Kutch on January 23.

A statement from the Customs Department Friday said that the substance was destroyed as part of the all-India drug disposal campaign being held from January 10 to 25 by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs.
