Aspirants flag ‘multiple selection of same candidates’, nothing unusual, says GPSC

Asha R Shah, in-charge chairperson of GPSC, told The Indian Express:“A few candidates take the exam more than once, which is a normal process. This is their right and we cannot stop them from doing that. Even in central exams like UPSC, selected candidates appear again and again, this is not unusual.”

Meanwhile, in their representations sent multiple times last month, candidates stated that it is a waste of government’s resources and time to conduct back-to-back Mains exams without giving the final result of previous exams. This leads to a large number of seats remaining vacant due to multiple selection of the same candidates, they added.

Notably, the final results of GPSC 2021-22 for recruitment to Class 1 and 2 civil services are still pending.Despite this, GPSC has conducted Mains for 2022-23.

The third Mains exam is scheduled on October 20 for which nearly 5,000 candidates will appear; another exam is scheduled in December 2024.On the delay in results, the chairperson stated that it was pending due to the litigation. “However, as the litigation is almost over, we have recommended the result to the state and are just waiting for the final orders,” Shah said.
