Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwani Vaishnaw Thursday said that the world is passing through a big phase of geo-political change as some countries, due to their ‘selfish motive’, are taking decisions deviating from the norms established for years. Vaishnaw said that in the changing global situation, India needs to follow the path shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He was speaking after inaugurating the first Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
“Currently, the world is passing through a big phase of change. The geopolitical scenario is changing. Economic turbulence is seen everywhere. For their selfish motive, some countries are taking decisions, deviating from the norms established for years,” Vaishnaw said.
“We have to further strengthen ourselves…all of us have to be united and move in one direction. And that direction is the target given by the PM (Modi): making India developed by 2047. And developed Gujarat will have a big role in it,” Vaishnaw said.
Vaishnaw also spoke about the “rapid growth witnessed in Gujarat in recent times” and highlighted railway network expansion and establishment of four semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the state. He said that owing to the big amount of clean energy being produced in Gujarat, it is also becoming a hub of Artificial Intelligence.
As Vaishnaw talked about the changing geopolitical scene of the world, a similar reference was made by the Ambassador of Vietnam to India, Nguyen Thanh Hai, who said that Vietnam would like to strengthen ties with trusted partners like India. “In the world of great uncertainties and disruption, we would like to strengthen ties with trusted partners like India and its different states, especially the vibrant state of Gujarat,” Hai said.
Recalling the long association of Vietnam with India, Hai said, “Our two countries are bound by a long history of friendship, shared spirit of heritage and mutual respect. The relationship between India and Vietnam has stood the test of time from the days of common struggle for independence to today’s cause for development.”
“Since establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972, Vietnam and India have been comprehensive strategic partners.
We have developed strong cooperation across politics, defence, trade, investment, culture and people to people exchange. Our bilateral trade has witnessed remarkable growth, surpassing 15 billion USD in 2023. Both sides are working on achieving an ambitious target of 20 billion USD in the coming year,” Hai said.
Addressing the gathering, CM Patel spoke on Gujarat’s growth story and its contribution to India’s development in terms of foreign direct investment (FDI), industrial production, export etc..
“Out of over 98,000 memorandum of understandings (MoUs) signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, around 7,100 were for the north Gujarat region. And of them around 72%, meaning 5,145 projects, have been commissioned,” the CM said.
He added that for agriculture and industry, water is very important and it was also a major problem area for north Gujarat. However, PM Modi resolved it by various schemes such as Sujalam Suflam, lift irrigation scheme, Narmada Yojana etc, Patel said.
The CM also reiterated the mantra of Atmanirbhar Bharat given by PM Modi and highlighted the importance of buying indigenous goods.
The inaugural session was attended by a number of industrialists and leading personalities from the region apart from dignitaries from Japan, Vietnam and South Korea, which are the partner countries for the conference.
