Gita Gopinath new financial advisor to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Gopinath had served as a member of the Eminent Persons Advisory Group on G20 matters for the finance ministry.

Gita Gopinath, economics professor at the Harvard University, was appointed the financial advisor to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday.

Gopinath was last year named the John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics. In India, Gopinath had served as a member of the Eminent Persons Advisory Group on G20 matters for the finance ministry.

A native of Mysore, Gopinath teaches international finance and foundations of international macroeconomic policy at the Harvard University. She is a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, member of the Economic advisory panel of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and managing editor of the Review of Economic Studies.
