Gujarat Civic Polls: Visuals of Counting In Vadodara

The six municipal corporations of Gujarat that went to polls Sunday recorded the highest turnout since 2005 as an estimated 48 per cent came out to vote. This despite the initial chaos, especially in Ahmedabad, after several voters found their names marked as “deleted” from the electoral roll. The elections took place under the cloud of the Patidar unrest, and in the newly-drawn out wards which, for the first time, will have four corporators per ward with two seats reserved for women. This is the first elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Anandiben Patel.
