Philippines' state seismologists recorded 824 aftershocks within 24 hours after twin earthquakes jolted Davao Oriental on October 10—a magnitude 7.4 offshore tremor in the morning, followed by a 6.8 quake in the evening, both along the Philippine Trench. At least eight people died and 11 were injured. The strongest aftershock was magnitude 5.8, with six above magnitude 5.
