October 12 marks a day of utmost significance. It is the International Moment of Frustration Scream Day. Yes, for all those people who have managed to remain perpetually frustrated thanks to their boss, parents, friends, the government, the law, the world, NASA and what not, you have a day to yourselves to vent! You can scream your lungs out to vent out your frustration today, and no one will stop you (or at least they shouldn't, but we give no guarantee). Just for larks (and inspiration), we figured we'll present variations of the most famous scream in (art) history - Edvard Munch's The Scream.
The day is part of a crazy list of holidays made up by US-based Thomas and Ruth Roy and their outfit Wellcat Holidays. In an LA Times interview, Thomas - a TV show host - recounts how he just decided to submit a crazy holiday entry to the Chase calendar (the omnibus that's regarded as the last word on holidays in the US). Surprisingly, the submission was accepted, and that just opened the way for a whole series of copyrighted holidays by the Roys. So far, the duo may have invented 40-50 zany holidays.
Well, in keeping with the crazy idea of this very relevant 'day of observance', we would also like to take the opportunity to bring to your notice The Scream — a composition by the famous expressionist artist Edvard Munch between 1893 and 1910. For those who don't know what the painting/pastel composition is about, as the name suggests, it has someone looking like they are screaming.
