Asus unveiled its gaming laptop ROG Zephyrus G14 that is powered by up to AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS. The 14-inch IPS screen comes in three types -- 120Hz FHD, 60Hz WQHD, and 60Hz FHD -- with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6. The ROG Zephyrus G14 comes with up to 32GB of DDR4 3200 MHz RAM and with up to 1TB. Weighing 1.6 kg the gaming laptop from Asus features 2x2.5W speakers with Smart AMP technology and 2x0.7W tweeters.
Samsung unveiled a $1000 Chromebook which comes with an aluminum body, Intel Core i5 processor, and a 13.3-inch 4K UHD touchscreen with 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution. This is the first Chromebook to feature an AMOLED display and with a thickness of 9.9mm, it is also the thinnest Chromebook in the market. The device comes with a built-in stylus to take notes.
At the CES 2020, Samsung Star Labs showcased the NEON-- an artificial human with ability for human emotions and intelligence. Star Labs does not want NEON to be seen as another AI-based assistant like Google Assistant or Alexa, nor it is being called as an Android or a copy of real humans. Rather, the name NEON is derived from NEO (new) + humaN, and Star Labs has some ambitious plans for these. NEON will exist not to answer queries, but to have a conversation and will also be able to “sympathise” with another human. They can even learn new skills and form memories from experiences similar to how it is with humans.
Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Home Mini smart speaker at the CES and plans to launch it in early 2020. Powered by Bixby, Samsung wants to make home appliances execute voice commands with the Galaxy Home Mini. “Samsung will remain a hardware company, forever,” said Hyunsuk Kim, chief executive officer of Samsung’s consumer electronics division, who is testing the Galaxy Home Mini in his own abode, connecting it to 63 devices that include his curtains, lighting and third-party gadgets.
At the CES 2020, Sony announced its Vision-S concept electronic car at its event. The electric car comes with 33 sensors that will monitor both inside and outside of the vehicle. Sony says that the Vision-C concept car offers “immersive” audio and it features a panoramic screen, and always-on connectivity. Sony reveals has the Vision-S concept car is built in partnership with auto manufacturer Magna and filled with gear from companies like BlackBerry and Bosch.
At CES 2020, Sony also revealed the new logo for the PlayStation 5-- its next-generation gaming console. The logo looks similar to the previous one and the company has not revealed anything about the console other than that. However, we already know that the next-generation console will feature ultra Blu-ray drive, 3D audio sound, and ultra-fast SSDs.
Lenovo has announced the Lenovo Yoga 5G, the world’s first 5G PC at the CES 2020 in Las Vegas. The Yoga 5G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 5G Compute Platform and will support both millimetre-wave full-band and sub-6GHz 5G networks offering ultra-fast connectivity, reduced latency, and wider bandwidth.
Lenovo also launched the ThinkPad X1 Fold, the first foldable PC in the world. The ThinkPad X1 Fold will be the first fully functional PC with a folding OLED display, bringing in a new form factor to the PC space. The X1 Fold can convert into a fully flat 13.3-inch display and thus offer “laptop efficiency with smartphone portability”.
Lenovo’s Smart Tab M10 FHD Plus 2nd-gen with Google Assistant succeeds the company’s Smart Tab M8. The Android tablet comes with a hands-free Google Assistant-activated screen through its Ambient Mode. It features a 10.3-inch Full HD screen with support for Dolby Atmos audio via two side speakers.
LG announced to bring its rollable TV to the market by the end of this year. CNET reported that LG plans to bring its 65-inch signature rollable OLED TV to the market by later this year, for $60,000. The rollable TV was unveiled last year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). With a press of a button, the screen disappears into a rectangular box.
Dell's Alienware brand wants to take on Nintendo with a handheld gaming device. The hybrid console is a concept device for the moment and the brand claims its Concept UFO handheld gaming machine is capable of running full-blown PC games. The device looks exactly like the Nintendo Switch, meaning it is essentially has a tablet screen and attachable controllers.
