Two time National Award winner, actor Sunny Deol is gearing up for the release of Ghayal Once Again, sequel to his superhit film Ghayal. The actor has given several hits in his career and from Ghayal to Ghayal Once Again, here are the 10 best films by Sunny.
Betaab: Sunny Deol made his Bollywood debut with Betaab that released in 1983. It was one of the biggest hits of that time. The film, which also starred Amrita Singh, Shammi Kapoor and Nirupa Roy was also remade in Telugu. Its songs 'Baadal yun gardgta hai' , 'Jab hum jawan honge' were chartbasters at that time.
Sunny: The actor was seen in another hit film Sunny a year later. The film which featured him opposite Amrita Singh once again also starred Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore and Waheeda Rehman. Veteran actor Dharmendra, who is Sunny's father in real life, played his father on screen as well in 'Sunny'.
Arjun: Directed by Rahul Rawail, Sunny Deol starrer Arjun released in 1985. The film featured Dimple Kapadia opposite the actor. Later remade in Telugu, the film was declared a hit at the box office then.
Ghayal: Sunny Deol was seen in the action drama Ghayal in 1990. The film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi was produced by the actor's father Dharmendra. The movie also featured Meenakshi Seshadri, Raj Babbar, Moushmi Chatterjee and Amrish Puri.
Sunny Deol got National Film Award-special Jury Award for his role in Ghayal.
Damini: In 1993, Sunny Deol was seen in Damini, which went on to be a hit at the box office. The film which also featured Meenakshi Sheshadri, Rishi Kapoor, Vijayendra Ghatge, Rohini Hattangadi, Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal and Tinu Anand was based on a woman who fights against the society for justice. Sunny Deol played the role of a lawyer in the film and this film got him his second National Award. His dialogue 'ye dhai kilo ka haath jab kisi par padhta hai na toh woh uthta nahin utha jaata hai' from the movie is still synonymous with Sunny Deol.
Darr: In the same year, Sunny Deol was seen in Yash Chopra directed Darr, with Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan. The movie adds up to the list of the best films list of Yash Chopra.
Ghatak: Another movie that added a feather to the actor's hat was the 1996 release Ghatak. Rajkumar Santoshi directorial, this film was Meenakshi Seshadri's last film.
Border: In 1997, Sunny Deol impressed everyone with his acting prowess in the hit film 'Border'. The film which brought together many actors including, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Raakhee, Jackie Shroff, Tabu and Pooja Bhatt. The film was directed and produced by J.P. Dutta.
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha - Sunny Deol romanced Ameesha Patel in 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' for the first time. The duo did a commendable job on screen in this film. The film worked phenomenally well at the box office. The film did wonders at the box office even after the big clash it witnessed with Aamir Khan's critically acclaimed Lagaan.
Yamla Pagla Deewana : In 2011, Sunny Deol returned to the big screen along with his father and veteran actor Dharmendra and younger brother Bobby Deol. The trio was able to pull many fans to the theatres. The film which also featured Punjabi actress Kulraj Randhawa and actor Anupam Kher was an action comedy. The film was directed by Samir Karnik. The film was a hit but it second part made in 2013 failed to impress.
